This picture has reached that critical stage, where if I carry on with it, it'll become utter shit.

overpaints and crits welcome.

This is really good.

If I do have to give a crit: I have the feeling the people are running from something. Maybe its because they're not walking upright, I dont know.

Looks very good. If there's something I'd look into, it's that ultra-sharp look on the edges. I think if it was only present on some focal area in the picture instead of everywhere it might work better.

yes def. is looking good, i think though the top lights...under 'holda de xxx' it doesn't seem to be affecting its area in anyway. And the headlights on the bus i think would be hit with the rain making the ray of light more visible...unless that was what you wanted Very Happy

Awesome, althought one thing that did bug me was the outline of the girl in green right above the "Eat, Fight 'N' Fuck" sign. I think the curves should be exaggerated a little more to make it look more like a sexy, skanky looking girl you'd see in those kinds of places. If you know what I mean, of course.
Anyways, keep up the great work.

dude, i love your colors! looked at syd mead stuff for inspiration, or what?

i think your brushwork could be improved; some of the people and the reflections on the ground look a bit to "scratchy" for my taste. perhaps a matter of blur and sharpening, too.

but on the whole, i really lov' it, man!

Wow. This is slick. Awesome work.

donlullo: I assume that the people who are running are moving quickly to get out of the rain. It also looks like a few people are crossing the street in front of an oncoming vehicle.

totally honest:
Not keen on the vertical motion-blur noise thing and the top majority, partly becuase of perspective as well, but ground level is effing awesome! I love the crowds, fantastic.

This is lovely! I love the blurry rainy effect with the lights and all, very effective. The neon green light girl on the building I'm not to keen on, maybe it's just the anatomy. She would be more effective for the style of the place to be almost barbie-like, I think.

I do like the crowd and those neon lights! Wow! This really is a lovely piece. <3

Hey man! Thar's a great piece! It has a very Syd Mead/Bladerunner feel that you captured very well. I really enjoy your brushwork and shapes, as well as the figures.

I feel you have several very strong compositions in this painting that, were you to continue working on it, you might want to emphasize more. Right now the concentrations of light/dark, color saturaion, etc seem sort of evenly spread out. which is flattening the piece.

For me, the focal point is the doorway to the "Go Rubbery" (lol). The main compositional elements are an L shape, with the Bus and the people being the horizontal part and the Go Rubbery building being the vertical, and a diagonal slash from the moon to the GR entryway (with the pink bubble left of the Climaxx sign and the green sphere being points of interest along the way).

I did a (very) quick PO with that in mind:

here's a comparison:
http://tedsuo.com/art/skribbles/Paint_Over/staxxx_PO_comp_web.jpg

Some other things that might help are maybe an interesting sillouette or interaction in from of the doorway, or maybe some half seen lap dances in the green sphere and pink bubble.

Cool man, hope that was helpful, my mouth talking instead of my ass and all that... Smile

cheers,
-T
