Hey guys & girls!

I just got back from 4 months in Beijing where I attended the
Central academy of fine arts (CAFA). Funky experience, even though I really missed my Wacom Very Happy Nice to see this site is still kicking. Anyway, I thought I'd share some stuff from my sketchbook- I think its been good for me to be away from the computer for awhile, turning my attention on some other medias.

These are marker, hope you like. Comments and crit is very welcome.

Oh, and happy new year Very Happy

I was wondering where your wonderful art went, Pringle. Smile I must say I'm really liking these works. The first one is my favorite. It's great compositionally as well as the environment design. What did you study at the CAFA? It must be a very good school to travel all the way to Beijing to attend.

Hey Guys, and thanks for the positive feedback. Glad to know I've been missed.

I guess CAFA is a really good school, especially if you speak chinese:)
Some of the work I saw there was really stunning. I got some good critique
from some of the teachers but the language barrier is really a problem, as
many of the teachers are very poor at speaking english. But overall it was
great to see Beijing and attend the school.
I feel I've really learned a lot by comparing chinese architecture to western
building style. Oh and the colours in that city... So nice. Everything covered
in dust, with colourful posters and neon signs all over, disappering into the smog.
I love it Very Happy Gotta post some photos at some point.

Bishop_six: I studied graphic design & attended a painting class, which was all about still life painting, so after awhile I just went out on my own and took photos and drew as much as I could.

I'm staying at my parents place the next couple of weeks so I won't have my
trusty Wacom at hand. But I'm really eager to join the speedpainting thread
when I get back home in the start of february!

You're right about the first one being the best. Ignorant me, I gotta look up John Harris.

Hej Rasmus, straffer du huset?
Jeg er i kbh frem til februar, lad os finde ud af noget en af dagene.

More stuff from the pile, I still really gotta improve my drawing.

Thank you all for your kind words.

Capt. Fred, I used cool grey markers + black, and a fine tipped filt pen.
I made the highlights with a white Posca and in some of the sketches I've used
white acrylics which I smeared over the drawing with a wet cloth.

Your interest in sci-fi/fantasy probably wasn't shared by most of the people there, eh? I just visited the Art Institute in Hangzhou a few months ago and took tons of pictures--the place was beautiful.(do a search for it). That school is mostly known for Traditional Chinese painting though.

Yup, many of the people there where more into portraits in the old european paintingstyle. But then again alot of the students digged stuff by doug chiang and so on. I saw your pictures of the school in Hangzhou. looks like a very nice place.

Popeye tnx, I study illustration at a Designschool in Denmark.
On the fourth year we have the opportunity to become exchange students for a semester. To my knowledge there isn't any really good artschools in Denmark. Most are preparetion courses for the designschools. + I thought it would be nice to get as far away as possible Smile

Hej Pringle

Faldt lige over din trd efter at have snakket i telefon med dig, sjovt nok.
Dine perspektiver er rigtigt sprde, og super stemning. Jeg er overrasket over at du kan f s meget flelse ind i billederne med s f midler.
Din walker ligner dog en stvsuger med ben. Lavet af sony.
Vi ses manjana.
