Hi there, first let me say you guys are the reason I'm drawing again. All of your artwork has been inspirational. I'm not going to go into the reasons behind me stopping, unless you guys really want to know. Anyways, I apologize for the low image quality, I have as of yet been unable to find the power cable to my scanner.

This piece was inspired by a true piece of art. Gotta love rapidographs. C&C is always welcome. Thanks.

Once I get the scanner hooked up, I'll give you guys better detail, and a detail for penstrokes.

Thanks again everybody for inspiring me to pick up the pen again.

I have one question too, I am low on cash and am looking at getting a wacom, will the 4x5 really hamper me? I bought a cheapo Medion tablet hoping it would work, but the pen doesn't work.

I like this piece and personally can't wait 'till you get your scanner hooked up. I'm interested in why you stopped drawing, also. Lastly, I have Wacom Graphire3 4x5. It's alright, but I wouldn't recommend such a small size.

Still looking for the scanner cord, but I couldn't resist throwing another drawing up.

Quick piece about 30-45 minutes.

This is who to thank for the electric guitar, Les Paul.

C&C Please.

Hey there, thanks for the responses so far.

So here's the story:

I was going to school for computer animation with an emphasis in charactar animation. My school was a 3 hour round trip commute, and I was going full time. Like every student I was poor, but I wasn't able to get any grants or loans, and was working full time as plain clothes security for a retail chain. I was going to an Ai school in Chicago, so it runs on an accelerated schedule, meaning I had to produce more work in a shorter amount of time. I was spending my days working and going to school and my nights working on artwork. I was getting about 4 hours of sleep a night. This doesn't seem so bad, but work was killing me. I was walking around a store 40+ hours a week, searching for shoplifters, and then having to deal with them. Which meant dealing with everything from chasing people, fist fights, and disarming people (I have had 6 people pull knives on me). On top of this I was going into debt very quickly, school alone was over $600.00 a month, I was in the negative about $150.00/month. So, now with no money, the art supplies I had originally bought were about gone, and I had no way to buy any others. I did the only thing I could to stay afloat, I got another job. No more sleep, and the only time I had to work on schoolwork was on the train. That's when everything started really going downhill. First my cute italian girlfriend broke up with me for not spending enough time together, then I almost got stabbed, had a fight with a convicted felon, broke his arm, and almost got fired. Then I caught a guy who was wanted for attempted manslaughter, and he threatened to kill me. Then I got my grades, I had taken all gen ed classes so that I wouldn't have to worry about rushing any work, and I was just barely passing. I decided to take the summer quarter off, the only problem was that if I took it off, I was going to have to pay more for school when I got back.

By now I had had enough, I quit school, and never wanted to see a sketchpad again.

I enrolled in community college and changed my major to computer engineering. I put all my art in portfolios, my art supplies into a box, and that was it.

Then I came across a guy I went to high school with, and he got me a job at an engineering company where I am a drafter still. The job came with a pay increase, so I was able to pay off my debt, and until recently haven't looked back.

About 10 months later a co-worker had just gotten a hold of a wacom and was wondering where he could get some inspiration for some digital art. Knowing my background he asked me. I recommended craig mullins site, and sijun for some good artwork. I took the same advice and visited the sites. I felt like crying seeing craig's work, and all the work on this forum. It reminded me how much I love drawing, and creating. I want to thank everyone that contributes to this forum, you've inspired me to enjoy it again.

Thanks. Very Happy
