Hi there, this file is a 1500 square pixels and the brush is a 60 px.
You can see different pressures of stokes at different speeds.

The opacity is set to 100 and the Flow also 100%. Why do I still have the awful spacing?
Note that the smaller the file size the less spacing there is. The larger the file (larger brush) the more spacing there is.
Is it from the kind of brush Im using (which in this case is the custom PS airbrush pen opacity flow 60px) or is there some setting Ive missed?
Any clue is much appreciated.

Hi,

I opened Photoshop 7, chose the preset brush named Airbrush Pen Opacity Flow, increased the brush size to 80 and painted a brushstroke.

( Spacing did look awful! )

Clicked the Brushes tab in the upper right corner of the screen, clicked Brush Tip Shape, then moved the Spacing slider to the left 'til the stroke looked better (anything between 4% and 6%).

That's all I can offer, not being much of a Photoshop user.

Are you using Airbrush or just the normal Brush?

Which version of Photoshop are you using?

The airbrush 'stamps' the brush onto the canvas (like taking a regular circular stamp and pressing it down regularly as you move along a line). This means that the opacity will be added onto a previous brushmark as you go.

The ordinary photoshop brush shouldn't give you the opacity stamp effect if you select variable opacity but _NOT_ variable flow.

It seems from the screenshot that you have stylus sensitivity linked to flow, which makes me think you're either using the airbrush or have selected flow in the opacity options.

The spacing can be set up in various versions of photoshop, this value establishes how many times photoshop 'stamps' the brush as you draw a line. Making this value very small slows the brush down, but takes away some of the effect that you've displayed.

Ideally, you want variable Opacity, and not variable Flow, as the brushstrokes will not overwrite each other until you stop drawing the line and start again on a new one.

Yea, you can set it up so there is no spacing, but it will lag a little more.

Thank you all Very Happy
Problem has been solved!

Jin: Went into Brush Tip Shape and minimized the spacing ratio. It worked, thanks!

Ceenda: using PS 7, airbrush mode. You're right it was linked to flow. Thanks
Odds: thanks

I'll sleep a little bit brighter tonight i suppose Very Happy

I kinda like airbrush mode for some purposes. So is there some way to actually save the spacing setting so I don't have to reset it every single time I switch brushes?
