I'm in the process of ordering replacement nibs for my Wacom Intuos 3. I don't know how others feel about this, but I find the pricing situation annoying. First of all, the nibs are only short pieces of plastic so what's up with the $5.00 for 5 nibs? Also, to add insult to injury, they want to charge $10.00 for handling. Some of us are not in a hurry, and there's no option for regular USPS. Just let me order the nibs via regular mail. I mean $15.00 for 5 pieces of plastic doesn't seem right. I think it's outrageous and mildly extorts customers. I'd have to order in bulk to justify the cost, or maybe the store 1.5 hours away sells replacement nibs. At any rate, I just had to rant a little because the pricing does seem a bit twisted for such little bits of plastic. Maybe it's time to vist the hardware store for thin tubes of plastic. Anyhow, I wonder if any of you kind folk know where nibs can be purchased without the forced $10.00 UPS or handling fee.
Thanks..... |

I once asked a pc store to order some for me and they did, and then when they received the package at long last I went to pick it up. At the desk I had my wallet in hand as the clerk spent a few minutes locating the tiny pouch of nibs in this great big envelope they came in. When he produced the nibs and I asked what they cost he just looked at them for a while, hesitating and looking a bit embarrassed and then told me to just take them.
Anyway, yes, 15 bucks is outrageous for the amount of plastic that goes into them, but then those five nibs should last several years unless you like to press real hard on the pen or are one of those people who like to tape a piece of paper to the tablet. The point is, in the long run it's an insignificant expenditure. |
