Hi guys, wow I haven't posted here for quite some time.
I thought I'd give a head's up about an ebay user who is selling light switch covers (of all things) using copyrighted images. I just happened to come across one of my crappy old geisha images that they had put on a light switch cover. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=4351845602&ssPageName=STRK:MEWA:IT I did email them and ask them to remove it, which they did.
I suspect they're taking images from deviantart, but they could be taking them from anywhere. You can look in their store under certain categories and just check to see if they are using any of your images.
In a fit of anger, I contacted numerous corporations and linked them to images these people were using unlawfully. =) |

Did you contact E-bay about this seller being an art thief? They have been known to toss 'em out, making them re-register (an inconvenience, but every little bit helps). _________________ Life is short. Expect nothing, enjoy everything.

Am I the only one who thinks this person deserves to be banned purely on the basis of trying to sell the most tasteless lightswitch-adornments ever made? |

Hi, yes I contacted ebay and VERO and haven't heard a word back. Hence why I went ahead and emailed the copyright infringement departments of companies she's using images from. Apparently the WB goes after people quite fast, and they've been contacted. I found by searching her completed auctions, she had the geisha up three times.
Should I be more insulted that there were no bids, or that she took the image? haha! |

That there were no bids? No. If she can't sell the crap she makes, hopefully she'll stop stealing images to make it with.
That she stole (and offered) the Geisha 3 times, yes and no. No, in that it IS a beautiful image, it's a compliment she thought that highly of it. Yes, in that if it DOES sell, she'll be wanting to steal more of your stuff...
Don't hold your breath waiting to hear back from e-bay. They're notorious for not following up.
You might also want to throw a warning notice up over at Wetcanvas.com in their Art Business section. They have a lot of their stuff stolen, and would appreciate a heads up. _________________ Life is short. Expect nothing, enjoy everything.

I'd buy one if you signed it.
What's kitschyer...
a bronze nude with a clock in her stomach,
or a geisha with a toggle switch in her ribs? |

Man, I caught this cunt selling switchcovers with my Rat Queen image on them YEARS ago. I mean, AGES ago, back when I was still living in SWEDEN! I can't be arsed with going through her hundreds of listings to see if she has any more of my art, but it's definitely the same thieving twat. I sent her a bill for $1,500 for licensing rights to the artwork she stole, and suddenly all auctions with my art in vanished. I also contacted eBay, but they didn't do jack. _________________ Dignity isn't important. It's everything.

"Plates are created as a tribute only.
No rights are implied or given with respect to the images used.
If you have rights to an image weve used, and want the listing removed, please email us and well remove the listing immediately."
.
...
So they're even admitting they have no right to use the images right there on the auction page. |

Hi Socar MYLES, you're actually who I was thinking of when I started going through some of her listings, but I couldn't remember your name, if you had a website, etc. That truly sucks she was using your work.
Sweetums, I think I'll do that over at wetcanvas. I just emailed Diane Ulmer Pederson and sent her links with her folk art being used too.
Ebay doesn't do anything, they don't police the listings so they rely on members to police. But what good is it when they don't even respond? |
