Did this in about 5 hours yesterday while I was home....sick. Photoshop cs, no references used. Wanted to create something different from my usual stuff and go back to my original style of art (space-art) when I started out on digital art.
This is a nebula, and therefore spaceart.

The lighting looks cool. I really like the atmosphere. However, personally, I think I would add far more stars of various shapes and sizes (or well, intensity) throughout the picture to create a feeling of chaos. I think it could add greatly to the sense of realism. Right now, the picture screams "children's book" when I watch it for some reason. Not necessarily a bad thing at all if that was your intention.
