Is there a way that you can transfer paths from Illustrator CS to Painter 9 without it being rasterized (copy and paste rasterizes the shape). I tried just about did everything and I didnt thnk that this task would be this difficult I even tried transfering my shapes from Illustrator CS to Photoshop CS in hopes of sending the shapes to painter without rasterizing it. |

Thanks for responding I found out that in my preferences < file handling clipboard section my preserve paths option was disabled. I can copy and paste paths from Illustrator to Painter now. |

olduttycruff,
Have you been able to copy and paste Illustrator vector work into Painter and have it show up as Painter Shapes?
When I do a copy and paste from Illustrator 9 to Painter IX it's a white Layer with linework on it. When I try to convert that to a Painter Shape by using Select > Auto Select, Using: Image Luminance, then Select > Convert to Shapes, I get a zillion disconnected Shapes instead of the original continuous line with beginning and ending points joined.

Hey Jin yeah I was able to do it with Illustrator CS. I dont really know if you can go into Illustrator 9 and do what I did but this is what I did anyway in CS. Go into preferences>file handling and clipboard, go into the Clipboard on Quit section and enable the ACIB button and select Preserve Appearance and Overprints from there copy and paste your paths from Illustrator to Painter , that might help you out. |

oldduttycruff,
Nope, it still works the same way.
Here's what I have in Illustrator 9:
Edit > Preferences > Files & Clipboard
Then in that dialog box, the Clipboard section with:
Copy as PDF [check box]
[check box] AICB (no transparency support)
(radio button) Preserve Paths
(radio button) Preserve Appearance
I checked the AICB box and the Preserve Appearance radio button.
Guess I need Illustrator CS to make copy and paste work.
Thanks for the help, even if it didn't work for me. I learned sumpthin' at least.
