Any of you guys and girls wanna help me out with my christmas present dilemma? I don�t know what to get for my girlfriend... I already got some Alf-DVD�s for her since she�s been on and off about it (so I reckon she liked it back then) but that�s more or less a joke so something real would be good too. Just to show that I like her. (and I do)
Something? Anything? Someone? Anyone? Help!!!

Stay away from the mall and Wal-Mart and any big retailer if you want to get her a good present. There are more (and more interesting) possibilities with local merchants.
Keeping that in mind, get her some...
1) Cool flatware. Something like, a Japanese tea set, or a nice coffee mug, or a fancy bowl, or plates, or week's set of fancy chopsticks. Something that she would be proud to trot out when she has guests, something that makes the mundane seem classier. Plus, everytime she drinks tea, it'll remind her of you.
2) Art Supplies. It doesn't matter if she's a super_Drawer or not. Eventually, she WILL need to use some color, and you certainly don't want her using Crayola. Get her a box of Prismacolor Verithin colored pencils, or Wintor Newton watercolors, or a nice calligraphy set. Don't forget the sketchbook!
3) Tools Alright, you can go to Home Depot for this one, but you don't have to. Get her a nice set of screwdrivers, pliers, or wrenches. The idea is for her to do minor repairs without having to call a guy. Sense of self-enablement ensues.
4) Book. No thick-as-a-brick tomes on philosophy or lawyer fiction allowed. Get her a fascinating, beautiful book, preferably about photography or art with lots of pictures. A book on Monet would be a good start. Cookbooks also work, unless she hates cooking.
STRICTLY DON'T GET HER THIS FOR CHRISTMAS PERIOD DON'T DO IT EVER LIST.
Do NOT get her any of the following.
1) Clothes. Unless you know her exact size (4? 6?) and exact personal preference in clothing, she's not going to like it. She'll hate it. You also run the risk of offense, on both parts. "WHAT?! DO I LOOK LIKE A SIZE EIGHT TO YOU? I'M FAT, AM I?" "So, I've noticed that you never, ever, ever wear that limegreen haltertop I gave you. You must hate me."
2) Jewelry. That's sort of the obligatory christmas gift from clueless boyfriends. Unless you've been dating her for four years, save the jewelry for anniversaries and birthdays.
3) Bath scented shit. No candles, no lavenderplum shower gels, no shampoo, NOTHING FROM THE BODY WORKS. I'm sure she's already got enough cucumbermelon lotion at home.
