I have some questions about Wacoms penpartner. It's a cheaper alternative to their pro tablets, and it seems good. You get a tablet and a pen in the package. Just wondering if there's any way to use a mouse at the same time you're using the pen? Coz, I mean, i play games and do oter stuff with my comp too, and a pen isn't really the best device for that....

Yeah, it should work. I don't know what the system is, exactly, with Penpartner, but two of my firends have them, on has the USB version, and they can both use the mouse.

I used to own a friggin' little PenPartner before I got my Intuos. The PenPartner comes
with several plugs. Since I had no USB back then, I used the extention plug that came with the package, so I could put the tablet through my keyboard-plug. All three peripherals (tablet, keyboard and mouse) still worked fine.

You should be able to use all three devices simultainiously regardless of the connection. Like PS/2 keyboard & mouse & either serial or USB tablet or if you have a serial mouse & a serial tablet then either connect them thru different serial ports or save that other port and just buy a serial Y connector and connect them thru the same port. Works out fine either way. If you have both USB mouse & Tablet it'll also work, but if you try to move the mouse & tablet at the same time you might get an error cuz they are sending singals at the same time. Other than that it's kewl!

you should go for the best one you can afford
from what I read the Artpad & Artz range have much higher sensitivity, and the Intuos has even more again.
So if you buy the cheaper one and get used to it quickly you might find its limitations in 4 months or something. Then you'll want to buy another one.
Better to get the best one you can at any time, even if you think you don't need the power right now.

I have the smallest pen partner awailable.. I've had it for more than a year and I'm satisfied with it.. it's better than the really old artz2 pads we got in school but I remember going "wow" when I tried a friends intous.. but it wasn't a big enough "wow" to spend the money on a new intous cause I was satisfied with the one I got.. or something

in others words.. buy one. but if you can afford it buy the intous, they're worth the extra cash (better than finding out you want an intous when you've allready got a pen partner)

yes you can use both mouse, keyboard and tablet at once

What exactly was it about the inruos that made you go 'wow', fragamite? (Just curious, I've never used one...)

I had a PenPartner 4x5 serial version and all other devices incl mouse kept work fine. its a great pad to get started without emptying your wallet. just be sure to get the latest drivers, i had windows95 drivers in the box/cd and those didn't work on win98.
