hey, hey, yo, yo. so, you know how the sharpen function can come in real handy when posting a web version of an image? well, what about when the image is large. like a full page at high rez. then the sharpening filter does not do quite the same thing. well, I guess it does. but it does it on such a fine level that you dont really see a difference to the overall image. so how does one create that effect on a file intended for print?

I ask this because recently Ive gotten some copies of stuff I did artwork for and it looks a little mushy. mabye i need make large, highly textural brushes?

thanks.

Are you using Photoshop? If so, use the "Unsharp mask" filter instead. There you can adjust the amount and range of sharpening, and there's threshold ajdustment so you can make the sharpen affect mostly the edges etc.

Sometimes I've tested scaling up the image to really big (like 4000px or more) and adding a "Watercolor" effect with minimal settings for a subtle sharpening. Try Edit --> Fade if the effect is too harsh. I guess "Paint daubs" effect could do similar sharpening results as well.

Hope this helps.
