I decided I really need to work on my pencilling and figure drawing as a whole, so I'm not going to touch my computer for a whole month. Just draw, draw, draw, all month. Wish me luck!
Farewell. Smile

Good call! I'm gonna follow suit, as I just browse and don't post anything atm. Time to sharpen some pencils. Hopefully have something to show for it after a month. Very Happy

Amen, little brother.

And kill your television while you're at it.

Don't make me go afterschool special on you guys.

"Hey.. mom! Dad! Where's my computer? And.. my ipod? And my Xbox!"
"We took them away, Jimmy. I think we need to have a talk."
"Uh.. alright. About what? Will I get my computer back?"
"We think that you're becoming.. addicted.. to the Interweb. Your mother and I decided to intervene now, before it's too late."
"WHAT! I HATE YOU GUYS! I'M NOT ADDICTED TO THE INTERNET! I CAN GIVE IT UP ANYTIME YOU WANT!"
"Prove it, Jimmy. Two weeks, that's all we ask. If you can make two weeks without getting on the internet, you'll know for yourself that you're not dependent."
"I HATE YOU! YOU NEVER LET ME DO ANYTHING! I"M GOING TO MY ROOM!"

Act III, Scene 12
"You know, you guys were right. All along I thought I was controlling the internet when it was actually controlling ME."
"I'm glad you realized that, James. You can't use the internet to define your life, but instead only to help you live it to the fullest. It's a valuable resource, but there's an entire world out there that can't be digitized. If you spend your entire life trying to replicate it, you'll wake up one day and realize that you've missed out on a lot of things that can't be controlled with a mouse. You'll miss things greater than you, things that can't be quantized and downloaded."
"Gee, dad. I never thought of it like that."
"Also, you've been looking at way too much porn, Jimmy. It's grossing me out."
"Aww, shucks mom! ha! ha! ha!"

That was a Father Knows Best episode.
That's the dialog from the show where
Jim and Margaret Anderson ground Bud
while Kitten and Princess listen through
the staircase railing.
Only instead of a computer, it was a
model-A jalopy.

Hopefully, the fact that it is a conscious decision to unplug will make it easier. My main PC was down for the better part of a week once, and although my "old dog" and my "standby workhorse" were still up and running, I kept wandering around like a lost child. When everything was finally fixed, and it was plugged in and powered up again, I felt like dancing around the room! I still had Internet, but I didn't have my Wacom, or my favorite games, and my Favorites was different, so I had to look up some forums...how pathetic.

I'm addicted. Hopelessly. I've turned the UPCs off and swore "no computer for one day." Lasts until about 10 am, when I realize I want to listen to commercial free music, and the only way to get BBC6 is through the PC...

Ah, I'm back. I got a little better, I guess. Oh well, I'm just going to keep drawing a lot and not waste my time playing games, etc.

ahh that old shut down the computer for a whole month, yea I did that back in september I think it was.
It has kind of been building up more and more, this kind of hate and love relationship against the computer and internet, I think it was faustgfx that mentioned something the same about when he entered this forum that he felt better when he stayed away from the forum but at the same time he came back and flamed me bad, hmm I hope he doesn't read this cause then he is gonna flame me even more bad *snif.

anyway, yea I am addicted too but I managed that month and it felt really weird when I sat in front of the computer for the first time again after that month, felt like my mojo was missing or something.
But I think I can easily do this again and probably will in the spring -05.

Next thing is to shut down me television, now that is gonna be hard but is also a necessity for me, just re-runs anyway with Friends and Frasier and more Friends and more Frasier and season one of the Simpsons then more Friends, yeez, T.V. really sucks nowadays and maybe I should throw it out the balcony.

odds, I see you didn't go the whole way, maybe u will some other time.

The same feeling is actually for the forums too, sometimes and mostly nowadays I am thinking twice before posting anything, feels like it doesn't matter and no one won't care anyway, that Sijun club idea pretty much sucked then I guess since there was no really enthusiasm for it.
Not sure what this forum needs but earlier I voted for a change in some way, now I don't know anymore.

have a nice day

Yea, I came back around 3 weeks in to post some stuff. Sad
This forum is great and all, but yea, I wish there were more people critiquing instead of just browsing and gazing. Anyhow, thanks for the reply, Matthew.
