I have done a search, and I don't think this was discussed b4 on Sijun.
On Photoshop version previous to CS, you could set your undo / redo shortcut to CTRL + SHIFT + Z (to redo) and CTRL + Z (to undo)
This was very useful for it eliminated the need to ever open the history window, and those key being close to each other, worked very well, (better than ctrl + z (to undo) / ctrl + y (to redo) on other software such as Painter because they are spread on the keyboard).
Now on Photoshop CS, CTRL + SHIFT + Z is not available, you can customize your shortcuts, but they grouped undo and redo under 1 single command... thus you cant have a separate shortcut for each...
If anyone knows a way to work around this, it will be VERY appreciated, for always having to refer to the history window really breaks my working flow, its a ridiculous waste of time than having to stop to paint to go click in some window, when a simple keyboard shortcut could do it...
My typical work space is: full screen mode without a single window, and use of keyboard shortcut for everything possible... So until they fix that, or someone has a solution, I pretty much think Im going back to Photoshop 7
Thanks for your time. _________________ http://www.letual.ca |

Undo/redo is old school. Using the history palette is much better.
Keeping that in mind, you're going to want to change Ctrl + Z to "Step Backward" (it's right next to Undo/Redo in the Keyboard Shortcuts... command list) and Ctrl + Shift + Z to "Step Forward" This moves through the states in the history palette. Set Undo/Redo to Ctrl + Alt + Z.
I think the Undo/Redo has been simplified to one command so that you can just double tap to quickly see the difference between image states, and to keep memory cache to a minimum. _________________ QED, sort of. |

haha, when I first got CS I wouldn't use it becuase it couldn't move through history with the keyboard. And only then did I figure that they'd inclded a new undo redo shortcut.
So you get one to step back, one to step forward, and one toggle between current history state and the most recent state. Alt-Cntrl Z; Shift-Cntrl Z; and then plane old control Z.
Is there anyway to save snaphots (history palette) in a docuemnt? So when reopen a document you get back your snapshots? |

You can't save snapshots, so your best bet is to use the "Create New Document from Current State" option, and save those.
Okay, time for my question. Did they get rid of the "New View" option in CS? I looked all over for it, and I can't seem to find it. _________________ QED, sort of. |

Yes.
In Photoshop 5.5 (last version I owned), it was the first option under "View" Now it's gone. _________________ QED, sort of. |

Cute, really. I've got 4, 5.5 and CS. You couldn't pay me to go back to an older version.
And you don't think you're the first one to suggest using older software, right? fgfx did it for years. _________________ QED, sort of. |

Versions earlier than 7.0 had a way too bad brush engine... from 6 to 7 there is a huge improvement. 7 to CS, nothing major, only a few cool gadget features, nevertheless I'm starting to like CS now ^^ _________________ http://www.letual.ca |
