Hi

I'm new here and I know this maynot get answers or it be quiet a while which is fine, but I like to know cause I'm struggling.

Sketchinbg has been a struggling forf years now and I realise now why, and starting studying from DVD's and its helping but I would like to now go to the next stage i.e. painting using Painter.

I have seen stunning work here, and browsed through the self portraites and amazed how some have finished work in a few hours.

I like to know what is your process before painting? Do you sketch first, get image right then scan and start painting using painter or photoshop, and can you give some tips when using painter please.

I'm getting the software in two weeks to begin. All I wanna do in life now is get good at what I loved doing for years and never had the chance cause of but now, I can be selfish and just learn. I got to get to that stage and willing to learn from people here.

Hope you can help and appreciate any advise you can give please to help me nearer to my goal.

The video tutorials on this site are great for just starting out in painter. Hope these help

Welcome to the site. I can only tell you how I use painter and that is in a very traditional manner. I just open a new file, select a canvas size and do my sketch in the painter program as I would on a canvas, then just go from there. You can see the kind of results I get that way by checking my WIP on this site or visit my site. You do have Pen and tablet don't You? Working with a mouse is a pain and is to be avoided if you want to achieve a degree of success in a fairly short amount of time. Good Luck!
