Just wondering, does anyone know the name of that particular art style that emerged out of the 30s-40s that had a strong, industrial, metropolitan look to it? A common motif was a working class man, at least to one particular artist (whose name I too must get).

The Incredibles (which by the way, owns my soul Very Happy

) nods at this particular style in some art pieces:

Anyone know what style I'm talking about? And more importantly, artists that have popularized this style?

If I catch your drift, you're referring to the war, propoganda and construction posters and recruitment ads that were made by the Americans and Soviets that kinda started in the 1920s.

I don't even know if the "Constructivist" movement is a real definition, but it might help you in further google searches, etc.

Yes, that's sort of the direction I'm going for. The style was common among those propaganda posters, but they were also pretty common in other places, mostly urban centers.

I'm trying to find the artist that really typified the style--the simple, geometric, angular shapes like the Incredibles poster I put up. Anyone have a clue?

This is what I was looking for. Somewhat on the same thread of the strong, industrial, metropolitan look of the Incredibles poster is this look that I was looking for, the "Californian" commercial art type. Think old 40s and 50s posters about airplanes and cigarettes Cool

This is the kind of attitude that I was looking for within the piece, in a propagandistic way.

So if anyone else has some knowledge of other great artists of this sort (I hope so Laughing

), I would like to know about it.
