Are those oranges ?
The fruits look a bit flat, pay attention to the values (turn it ot grayscale for example). The back one seems deformed by the front two because of the values (that's how light or dark) used for the shadow. _________________ "I'm not a shrimp, I'm a KING PRAWN !" -- Pepe.

There are some problems I am noticing here. For starters, the focal point, which is obviously the oranges, is right smack dab in the center of the composition. This is a big no-no. Never put your focal point right in the center. Put it more to the left or right, or more up or down...whatever...just not in the direct center. Secondly, the arrangement of the oranges is not very interesting. I like that they overlap, but I don't like how they are all clumped together. It is good that you chose to draw three of them, however, because for whatever reason odd numbers work best in compositions. The oranges themselves are pretty well-rendered but do appear to be too smooth. Some added texture could help a lot. I noticed that you tried to reflect some of the blue of the cloth onto the oranges. This is very good and shows that you have a keen eye. Unfortunately, I don't think the cloth is very convincing. It appears to be much too wavy. I'm guessing you weren't referring to actual cloth when rendering it, and just tried to make it up. Well, sometimes that is OK, but I would suggest looking at actual cloth until you develop a better understanding of what it really looks like. As far as the color is concerned, I see that you chose a complementary color scheme with blue and orange, which is a good choice. I would try for more color variation in the oranges and cloth, though. Just because an orange is orange, doesn't mean there aren't other colors in it. Try some reds and greens perhaps. The background needs something...even if you just want a solid color, at least change the current one. And I would suggest blurring the edge of the cloth so that it doesn't look like a cut-out. |
