Ok... I suck, but I dont want to... Feels like I need some help here!
This is the last peace I did, I dont really like it (though I love the boy on
pic, my son). I would really like if someone could make an overpaint
to help me improve my focus on things... Thanks!

wow, I thought it was a blurry photograph when I glanced at the face.. thats great. you could maybe add some hard edges around the head to make it even more of a focal point, but that may ruin it, I dont know. _________________ Idolize no one, else you place yourself beneath them. |

Thanks Guys... Yeah, I will improve the head...
But I still think it looks crappy, I want to be better.
I guess the only way to achieve that is tha paint, paint, paint!
Well, I guess I wanted some really skilled person to do an overpaint
so that I can broaden my horizons outside the little box I sit in now!
I want it to look more like an oilpainting! |

yup i agree with anthony. this is pretty much done, and u just meed to zoom in and do the noodling boring work of detailing . pick a bruch at about 30-40 % opacity, dont pick a soft edged brush though. and zoom in and just paint. im bored and i think i might do that for u just now if my mom doesnt get mad at me for being on the computer 5 in the morning. lol. |

Hey, some things that I have been thinking about and what makes the piece feels a bit boring cause it is clearly made out of reference.
I pointed some arrows, those parts feel too contrasty and photographic. I usually see this with people making portraits and such and they make it very bright all around instead of going for one lightsource. Cast shadows and shadows are the tools and companions for the artist, use them well.
About making it feel oil, u can add an oil painting above your digital piece and mess around with the layer setting, like soft light and or overlay, I added an oil over your beneath under the text oil. Something Spooge-Demon (Craig Mullins) came up with here in Sijun and passed onto us sijun members, really helps and gives you a texture very quick.
ok just my opinion and I am still studying art so don't trust me too much. Btw can u recommend Konstfack? Think I will apply there next year for the konst, kanske Magister -examen om den finns dr.
Cute son btw, have a nice day.
Hope I wasn't too harsch or anything, if I was feel free to slap me around.

Thanks for the crits every1!
Matthew: Great reply... I see your arrows, and actually I was going tofix that. I played (with the Dodge tool, is that right). And it was not good, hehe, never again. but I had to try it at least once! Well anyway! How did you do an OIL layer, please tell me more about that cause it looks cool & good, or maybe you have the link to the text where spooge talks about it?
And... Konstfack??? I havent been to konstfack, have you somehow stumbled upon my website or something, well if you have I can say this much. I exxagerated the truth a teenie-weenie bit ! |

hehe yea I saw the site.
the oil thing, I know spooge has mentioned in some posts in the speedy but it would be hard to find, but I know another guy who has put this tecnique down in a tutorial, (wasssup), and who also has been seen in the speedpainting here in sijun from time to time.
Here is the tutorial, I think it should cover the most part but instead of an acrylic overlay as he did u can add an oil-painting.

see you and keep it up
