I couldn't find this in Flash's help documents, so I thought I'd ask here, since many of you seem to know this...
How do I make a Flash movie that preloads before playing, and when preloading dispays a certain frame in my movie (or another scene, I dunno)? Help, plz! |

Preloaders rule big-time! Instead of explaining how they work, and how to build one, I'll just give you a link to a tutorial on making a preloader... Good luck!
Hm... then again... that tutor doesn't look THAT good. Lemme do one:
- Make a new movie and create an extra scene (scene 1 will be the preloader, scene 2 will be the main movie).
- In scene 1, create two keyframes on frame 1 and 2.
- Doubleclick frame 1, select the Actions tab and add an If frame is loaded action. Insert the following settings:
scene: 2
frame number: 1
Now insert a Go to action within the If frame is loaded function. Set it to go to frame 1 in scene 2. Don't forget to check the Go to and play option. Click OK and return to the timeline.
- Doubleclick the second keyframe, select Actions once more, and add a Go to action. Set it to go back to frame 1 on scene 1. Once again, make sure Go to and play is checked. This creates an endless loop, until frame 1 in scene 2 is loaded.
- Add your 'Now Loading...' animation on a seperate layer in scene 1 and build the rest of your animation in scene 2... Good luck!
