hey guys. just asking ur opinion on my latest 'stuff'. i didnt work on it too long. 2 hours max. and 1 hour minimum with the exception of the robotic dragon creature looking thing. that was between 30-40 mins. i'll welcome any criticism that u have for me. personally, i try not to work on something too long which is more then 2 hours. 2 hours is the maximum i go... of course, if anyone worked at something for like 5-6 hours on this site, the work would be exceptional. but im trying to learn ways of having quick, clean, and definite brush strokes which define what im trying to portray. im just a 17 year old bad amateur artist who wants to get better before he has to choose a college next year. i also want advice from u guys to see if i should go for art as a profession, and that if it is a good/stable'ish field, or do i just plainly suck. lol. ok, i think this description is long enough. thanks...
30-40 mins:
maybe 2 hours, dont remember:

Why would you only spend two hours on something? I can understand a speedpainting, but not a finished painting.
Dont plan on getting any professional work if you dont try to hone your skills. Spend more than 2 hours on something so you can build a portfolio, not a bunch of sketches. Most people are not interested in sketchy quickly done pieces. Put time and effort into it.
The first picture looks amateurish but I like the second one. Looks like you followed Greg Martin's planet tutorial on it though. |

well, i like them a lot, but like the guy above me said, if you put more time into your work, trying to make them as perfect as possible, you could do great things. if stuff like this takes you 2 hours, then if you actually poured yourself into a piece it would be phenominal. great stuff tho. _________________

dhood; i've been a spaceartist for a long time. before i started doing illustrations and such on the computer. the planet, has not been taking from greg martin's tutorial. over time, i've developed my own technique, and painted it. greg martin uses a different style.
ddawghurl; thanks. i guess i just need time then. |
