Nice one Warhead82

The duck seems to part from the enviroment abit though.

Really like the reflections..

I think the duck looks way too flat.. and I think that is also the reason whhy I don't really like this painting.. because the duck is in such a weird position, and not blending in with the environment (perspective wise) I couldn't even make out that he was in the water!

the pic is nice, but the duck...

hehe, I'm not the right guy to talk about values, but I think that the values on the duck don't express it's shape well enough, and it looks a bit too bright too.. some shading there might help.. and also some reflective light from the water?

Okay, first of all, I really like this painting. You have obvious talent.

What I would suggest, is that you could try using a bit less texture. By texture I mean the local differences in surface color, for example, the contrasty feathers on the duck. If you cut down the amount of texture contrast, you should get more solid forms (hard to do with traditional).

Also, decide where's the brightest bright and the darkest dark. That will direct the viewer's eye where you want it to.

Here's a very poor mouse repaint in Painter Classic. I lost the edges too much, airbrush tool is not my friend.

I just had to do this, because this painting is very cool already! Keep up Warhead!

thanks guys, hehe, as for the overpaint, i wouldn't of made the water how you did, but, i know how to fix the value problem now.

Thanks Very Happy

Yes, I took the picture too much to the opposite side, with a lot of interest and crispness lost. Bad overpaint.

Post a new version if you're continuing with this painting! Smile

edit: I revisited the shitty overpaint in PS, with a proper monitor..
