Yeehah! I just finished my first tablet image and it's my 3rd photoshop image!
It's a pic of a jedi knight. Not any knight/character in particular, just a jedi knight. The pic is not 'spot on' with starwars technical mumbo jumbo because I was just doing it for the 'artistic value'. The lightsaber is just some bit o crap I made up and his cloak is blue instead of brown because brown is just plain boring. So don't tell me about how the pic isn't on par with Starwars intracasies.
Well, I don't plan on working on it anymore, but comments which would give me direction for future drawings would be appreciated. Thanx guys and gals

I really like how clean the overall image is.. and the hair is well done. Also the whipping around look of the pony tail is cool. Its a great start for your first tablet image. (i'm in the same boat too!)
A couple things, the lightsabre.. i'm not sure if its and single or double bladed one.. if its a single then the shaft is too long. Also the beam its self seems a little thick. His bicep on his right arm looks too shapen and his left arm has muscles that look too similar to each other. Also the inner parts of his eyes look smudged upwards..
keep going and post your end result... (who knows when I'll get back to mine)

Hey thanks for the tips
It's not a double bladed sabre, just a normal one. I made it that long because realistically, he'd need room to fit his other hand.
I agree about the blade being too thick. I'll thin it down and try to refine it a bit more. The eye parts were a rushed thing and should be easy to fix up.
But the muscles, I'm a little stumped. I might try to go ever the bicep with a low opacity skin colour to make it look less shapely.
The other arm, with mucles looking too similar, well, I don't really know how the muscles are shaped from that angle. Looks like I'll need to do a bit of research. But even then, I don't think i'll change it on my pic because that means erasing, redrawing and re colouring.
Well, thanks again dude, it helped a lot

Aha, good for first tablet drawing... it's clean, simply. I think you need to take a couple of reference photos or anatomy books to correct an anatomy problems. As for lightsaber, just look at any SW picture/photo with it.
Anyway it's da good sample... keep posting!
Bah, my naked woman is up .

I did have a reference photo for the lightsabre, but I couldn't be bothered copying it properly. I was copying Obi Wans lightsabre, but if I made it identical Starwars freaks would have questioned the sameness of the sabres (hey it could happen). I just cut a corner there. hehe. I know it's a bad habit, but i don't care.
Anyway, thanks for the feedback Leo, in my future pics I'll pay more attention to anatomy. (Cutting corners once again...hehe)

I like the in your face pose. And the intense look on his face. The muscles are disturbing, but it's art I gotta go! |
