Since this image has been released on the web (and in Random Musings Smile) I thought to post this here to. Click on the image for a larger version.

It's an illustration that was used for a bunch of European magazines and was supposed to be used on the PC GAMER cover from a few months ago. They ended up going with something else and used this on the inside article.

Some notes about this image, the water splashes WERE derived from photo source, i did not draw all that by hand Laughing , but it was a lot of photoshop manipulation to get it to splash the way i wanted it. The background was taken from a screenshot of Half-life2 and the barnacle was taken from a model i built for the game. The funnest part about doing this picture was the water droplets on Gordon's suit and his face (i looked at some pictures of wet cars etc to learn how droplets form) along with the slimey bits on the barnacle tongue.

Click on the image for a larger version.

The blur doesn't add a lot tho, would be better without it I think...

But man, serious work there........

Good to see Dhabih's alive.

It looks amazing, I can see you had fun painting this. One thing that's bothering me is that the glasses are the darkest thing in the whole image. I 'm guessing you did it on purpose to draw attention to the face, but everything else is rendered so realistically they would "sit" better rendered lighter.

mr freeman is gorgeously rendered. the monster looks less polished than the main character somehow, and its a bit vague how the tounge thing meets the.. mouth thing. but thats minor, more importantly I'd love seeing another color for the background, as freeman is in the same color scheme. that aside, stunning work dude.

Very Happy great to see you here! This image is extremely well polished. Great composition and I'll disagree with the earlier comment and say that I love the blurring. The action is fantastic.

Wow didnt know they found a cure for alzheimer.

Great Picture, I especially love how you made the suit look more cool and elegant than the big chunk of metal it was in the first game.

At first I didn't like it, but the more I look at it the more the blurring has grown on me. It fits really well, as it helps explain all the water splashing about.

Yeah I think I know the one you're talking about. Is it the image of Gordon walking with a crowbar in his hand?

Beautiful work BTW. It really gets me gagging to play Half-Life 2
