Hey, Im back and this time I brought a friend.
Welcome Manny Calavera from Grim Fandango, one of the best games ever made. (Adventure from Lucasarts, everyone that does not know it should run out looking for it right now).
His looks are more like the conceptart than the game model(which wouldve been rather blocky due to it being old and realtime 3d) and of course I added some of my own touch to it.

Very nice sculpture, gLitterbug. I like his buttons. I'm a big fan of Grim Fandango. While I definitely see a resemblance more to the concept art(as you said), there's still something about him that doesn't 'feel' like Manny to me. I think his head isn't quite as tall compared to the size of his eyes. I think if the larger eye weren't quite so large, it would feel better to me. Regardless of all that, I do like it a lot. I think it stands on its own as a piece of art, as well as an homage to Grim Fandango. |

Awesome! Grim Fandango is my favorite game of all times and i'm glad many people remember the game. "My name is Manny Calavera, i'm your new travel agent" Ah, i remember it like it was yesterday ^__^
The big eye makes the head look smaller, if the eye was smaller it could fix Manny Calavera perfectly. But regardrdless those little things, it looks like Manny and i think you did an awesome job. I want to make sculptures like that ![Smile](images/smiles/icon_smile.gif) _________________ ___________________________

truly... this is reaaaally cool! It looks better with a round head than the game-version I think.
This makes me wanna create some sculptures and stuff too, but I think I'll stick to the digital 2d. For now. ![Smile](images/smiles/icon_smile.gif) _________________ Some people are bad. That is because many people are better. |

Ooh thank you alot everyone, Im really glad you like it. Gives me alot of positive energy, now if the store I order sculpey from would just get off their holidays or whatever they are on and write me back an email.
About the big eye thing, I think you are probably right. Seems like my own preference for strange facial expressions and differently sized eyes sneaked into Manny here too without me thinking about it. Not sure Id make it different if Id do him over, but I would surely try how itd look.
As for the sale question: basically I would sell him, but I have yet to email Lucasarts for a license. Its not my own intellectual property after all. Ill update you once I have their reply. |
