when you start a drawing with no reference or anything really what are some steps you go through. i believe i know what i'm doing yet i've been struggling with creativity. ok, for instance, i notice a lot of sketches here have some leftover lines, so what do you do to start with those lines.. just basic shapes? i've tried gesture drawing and that's real fun but i'd like to know what some of you're techniques are.
thanks! _________________ run lola run! |

There are many different techniques. You may start with sketch first /you need some good idea in the head/, or you can start directly with color --> with big size brush, basic colors and then continue rendering. Most if not all, manga artist draw lines first, with all the details, and the coloring. Look on the net for some painting tutorials and practice until you find your own technique or at least one which works best for you. Good luck! _________________ "I'm a fuel injected suicide machine. I dont really use lines. I just make big shapes with color, and shape and define them more and more until Im done. Sometimes I have to sketch an outline or two in middle of the process to place something.
If youre looking for tutorials, Sijun has plenty. |
