So, I have a question. Is there a WAY (manually) to figure out how a shadow wi ll show up on the ground of something you drew, by using a chart, or lines, or something like that?
Like, say I draw an object, a man for example..standing on the road, and the lightsource is coming from far behind him and to the left.. is there some sort of trick to use lines/whatever to cast his PERFECT shadow onto the ground? or do you just have to use your experience/references/guess/skills, ect?
Also, a trick to 'outlining' a cool perspective in a picture before you start? thanks in advance! Please do not link me to any books, as I am looking strictly for word to mouth help, and perhaps a free online tutorial for now.. I just want to dabble in it right now, not study. |

basically, all shadows seem to hav a vanishing point directly under the casting light (for the sun, this lies on the horizon).. so shadows get larger as they get farther from the source... then consider that light can't travel through forms, so u can trace the rays that brush along an object's contour to find the projected shadow's reach.
PS. woops... the lamppost shadows should be vanishing beneath the bulb, not the pole.. sorry!
