Of the two, the "voiceless" picture is definately the most interesting. There's not really much you can say about, other than it is really well done. A couple of things i would recommend doing is perhaps lengthening the forehead as the lower part of the face is very long. I'm also thrown by the way you some black on the right side of the face. It just doesn't look right, you might want to crop the picture.

the fire pic is pretty cool, although i don't really like the background as it doesn't seem to fit with the guy.

Don't crop that picture! I like it just the way it is. It's good if you can disturb someone with something that is a little different from what they've been looking at. Great job, this is art. I like the comic guy too and the background. I think it fits him just fine, he looks like a city slicker to me I find backgrounds and enviroments very very hard. Especially after you've worked so long on a picture and you just want to get it done. I often (and shouldn't) leave them blank. Since I use a lot of my charectors in flash movies anyway, they can't always have fancy backgrounds so that will be my excuse today. I should go do something productive now.......

oh yeah, and this is just a guess but if you don't like the way the sky came out on the comic guy, try posterizing it? I haven't posterized many things so I'm not sure how it will come out, but give it a shot and see

Posterizing is a Photoshop filter. Go to Image, Adjust, and click Posterize. It creates a sorta cool effect, reduces the colors.
