Hello,
I am trying to help a young friend who does very good Anime drawings on paper. I read that PhotoShop is good for drawings. Would the Adobe PS CS work to create Anime drawings? Any other softwares to recommend or comments to make? About Anime animations, I would suspect that MacroMedia Flash MX could create Anime animations. What other softwares can do Anime animations? I have search Google.com and have found Anime Studio software. Any other suggestions or comments?

I'm assuming you're referring to manga when you say "anime drawings". Yes, Photoshop CS among with most art applications should allow you to draw manga. Of course, if you're planning to animate it all by drawing every single frame out, then you could use just about any animation program, ranging from Jasc Animation Shop to Adobe Premiere to just put the frames together in a sequence and render it. The latter has some keyframing capabilites (letting you move images/layers across the screen and so, which can help you fake stuff, like people moving from up close, or background sections moving a bit, door slices or whatever). Flash has a couple of good animation features, but it sums up to what I've mentioned already, plus the possibility to script various events. I don't know Flash very well though, so anyone who wants to prove me wrong on this point, go right ahead and do so, and I'll be more than happy.
Frankly, I have never heard of a good 2d-based imaging program that allows you to animate characters by pulling their feet around or so, and hoping that their leg will follow. That's what IK (inverse kinematics) is for, but that solely exists in 3D programs to my knowledge. Animating 3d models can be a lot simpler than drawing things frame by frame, but modeling takes some extensive time, not to mention getting cel shaders and whatever you may need to work well. And again, I'm guessing you don't really want to get into that as a vast majority of the people on this board draw/paint. I'm just trying to share my VAST knowledge with you. Heh, who am I kidding? |

View my post here for some links and info on animation programs.
Chruser, there are actually 2D animation programs which fully support bones and IK. Check out the vector based Moho for example.
