I am currently trying to work on a peice which I started ages ago (Mon had helped me with this months ago, thanks ). But I just can't seem to get the hang of the brushes and the shadows.
I have only done the eyes and the face so far (excluding the eyebrows). Still needing to do the shirt and the hair to make them less blurred and more realistic.
If anyone can give me and help/advice it would be much appreciated.
Thanks, Tom.
(P.S. I've also noticed the ear looks incredibly stupid But I can't seem to sort it ![Razz](images/smiles/icon_razz.gif) |

Hi rec|use
And welcome to sijun.
The ear should be taken away.
Because it's distance form the face is way far of.
Do not use the dodge/burn tool.
Do not smudge edges to get the effect of transition.
Get rid of those black edges defining the shapes in your image.
Make endges with the help of lighting and shadow.
The colours are way plastic and should be dealt with.
Even if you had a cartoonish aim I think you should consider doing so.
You will learn lots!
Try to define this paintover.
Try to see what changes I did to your picture!
I hope it'll help you out some.

Wow, thanks a lot for the paint over Peter, much appreciated.
I'll be sure to have a go later on, just one question. Did you just use a brush, with a wacom, and then set opacity and size jitter on? Because I can never seem to get the right textures or effects with the brush.
Thanks. |

Yes I used a wacom "A must"
And I have made a costum brush which I used here.
I only used one brush, which gave opacity jitter and some size jitter depening on how hard I pressed the pen against the wacom board.
It takes a while to find your own set of brushes and adapt to them.
"The brush I used were nothing fancy."
And I must say that my overpaint didnt make anything better.
Maybe the use of colour where abit more complex in my overpaint.
But nothing more.
I am still learning alot of the basics myself.
So giving cnc is rather new and scary to me.

Going to eat my food, and have another crack at it I think.
