hi all!
just surfed across this very small travis charest- forum, where he posted a preview page of his upcoming "comic" named "dreamshifters", on which he's working since 2001 or so- without any break, i think.
i admire him and his holyshitfuckincrazynutsmakin drawingskills. to me, he is one of the world's finest draftsmen. every panel he draws and paints is an incredible artwork which could hang seperatly in a museum or in my room.

...yes, i like clean & perfect style. but i like dirty'n'loose, too... _________________ known as "ChrisNix" elsewhere. |

check out his submissions to DC from 91. Not what you would expect. It gives hope to all of us trying to learn how to draw. |

yeah spooge, i know his early work. i think he got into comicbiz with 19 or so, heavily inspired by jim lee. today he is somewhat around 35, and the quality of his work has risen into undefined areas. especially when he uses inkwash and airbrush every panel he does turns out as something like a small drew struzan.
incredible effort for small-format comic books with cheap, unworthy paper. imho.
one of my fellow students is a big fan of travis, and 3 weeks ago he brought "wildcats - the golden age" and, let me guess, his last "dreamshifters"- album into school. i was really shocked when i saw that the stand-alone artworks i know from his homepage are just excerpts, just little panels from his storys. sedat (my fellow student) said that it takes more than a month to him to produce one comicpage...
and yes, check out sedat, the upcoming comic-star, heh: http://groups.msn.com/thecomicsmatrix/sedatsartwork.msnw
he just got 20 two weeks ago; i think he will do stunning artwork in a few years if he keeps progressing like in the last time. _________________ known as "ChrisNix" elsewhere. |

i have such respect for comics guys... it's an art with stories and styles from another world to me. someone (robert stotz) was telling me recently about how hard the business is.. he's got lots of talent but has to work in advertising to pay the bills, and doesn't get to do too much comic stuff anymore..
