Im looking to buy a wacom and im sorta split between the graphire3 6x8 for $240 or the intuos 4x5 $260. I think intuos has better quality but is smaller and more expensive.. hmm! Exclamation

I have a graphire 3 6x8 and I think I only paid like $165 for it. Do some more reasearch if you are gonna go with that. I've had no problems with it and it is really awsome. Of course, I've never owned an intuos so I can't compare.

Before you try to find a Wacom tablet elsewhere, take a look at the list of refurbished tablets Wacom sells. The list changes frequently, so keep an eye on it.

As I type this, there's a...

Refurbished Intuos2 6x8 Platinum USB pen tablet (Mac or PC) - $239.99

... in the list along with several Graphires both 4 x 5 inch and 6 x 8 inch sizes.

Wacom bundles all of the same software with the refurbished tablets that they bundle with the new tablets, and the refurbs come with a one year warranty.

Since Wacom tablets are built well it's pretty hard to break one. It's a good company and their tech support is free, friendly, and a pleasure all around.

Here's the URL:

http://wacomdirect.wacom.com/wacomdirect/reftablet.asp?

Good luck! Smile

not at all - i've used models from A4 to Artpad II

i found the A4 too big, i draw with my wrist so find the 4x5 a good size to use

if you search the forums there's all kind of advice the best is if you draw with your arm use a larger tablet - if you draw with ur wrist use a smaller tablet Smile

I have a 12x12" Wacom ArtZ II serial. She's old, fat and ugly, but she's mine.

When this one dies, I have hopes of getting that black 18x12" monster that Wacom sells. I'll name it Widowmaker, and many bitches will flow unto me.

I had a little 4x6 that stayed in its box for a couple of years. Then I forced myself to learn how to use it. It was fine.

2 years ago I splurged on a bowl of ice cream and the 12x18 that balistic wants. It's OK but not really worth the extra money. I have calluses under my right arm now.

I think the middle size is juuust right.

I started with a Wacom Artpad 8 years ago, then 5 years ago I got a Wacom Graphire and now I use since 1.5 years a Wacom Intuos 2 A4. Its good, but I think an A5 would have been enough as well, considering the remaining space on my desk.

I started with a, well... I can't remember the name of that one, but it was the type where the pen was still attached to the tablet by a cable. That was so annoying! My next tablet was a Kurta... lasted for a few years and worked well - but big and klunky. Then it was Wacoms. I'm still using my Wacom Intuos GD - 9x12 in portrait mode. Upper half for my secondary monitor and lower half for my primary monitor.

On a single monitor or laptop, I'd probably just use the 6 x 8.
