Guys,
you have to see this. They are talking about it in professional circles over a year already and now here are the first trailers available for the public: "STALKER Oblivion Lost" (after the Tarkowski movie and the original book by the Strugatzki brothers) will be a revolution in gaming. Never before has such quality and immersion be achieved. The maps are absolutely huge and 100% Interactive. Wildlife is everywhere reacting to each other and to you, you can take all kinds of vehicles, the weather changes, night falls etc.
The graphics are jaw-dropping. This is a must see, believe me.
Get the trailer here:

I dont know what gaming news site supplies you with infos on games, but you should go look for another one. I watched alot of videos and trailers for that game already ages ago.
Looks good, but Im not gonna be hyped up until its out and it keeps what it promises. |

Well I understand your reaction, as this was a post I copy/pasted from another forum (sim-outhouse) and it's some time ago that I posted it there.
Be sure I'm very well aware of games, as it is part of my business.
Stalker will be one of the hottest things this year, certainly now that it become quite clear Thief 3 will be a deception.
Another good thing to come up is Half Life and Pacific Sim by Oleg Maddox.

I'm still not clear on whether or not Stalker is officially based on the movie . . . first I hear it is, and then that it isn't . . . _________________ brian.prince|light.comp.paint |

Yes and No. Lots of settings, decors and some other things are, as for example the "throwing of the screws" to test the gravity in some zones.
I believe there is also the draisine, the tunnel and some more. Moreover though, the game is based on the original book of the Strugatzki Brothers.
Additionnally, there is more action and "gore" then in both...

I dunno. There was a ton of movies on with the latest PCZONE and it was looking as chuggy as a broken-down Lada in a traffic jam. The concept of it's Morrowind-like open ended gameplay could be fun, but I'm getting weary of game hype now, how can you be sure that your opinion of Thief 3 won't be the same as STALKER when it comes out?
On a sidenote, if you're looking for good "art music", there's an ambient album called "Stalker" (no relation to the film or game) which is great for dark soundscapes... |
