After different PC/Internet problems, now im ready to post here again.

I did some acrylics while my PC was down, and different speedies last time; some of them took a bit longer.

_first 5 images done in acryl_

_those following are done digitally_

Done in ArtRage

Done in Photoshop - finished with the smudge-tool to give it a smoother and more painterly look.

nice! i like the last digital painting of the volcano best.. lord of the rings? your pencil sketches are all very nice. my only advice maybe is to try painting more opaquely w/the acrylics to hide the white of the paper... the best part about acrylics is u can always go over/paint into mistakes. then if you wanna do washes, add a little gel medium after you've got some solid layers down Smile

ah yea Dura nice to see you back and really cool to see that you keep doing your zoo work, that is really gonna pay off u know.

Acrylics, very nice and the same treatment in those as in your digital works. That is something that I have been trying to do aswell but I can't make it look the same really, something with digital medium that sometimes makes me confused.
See you in the speedy in July cause I am taking a break from the speedy but I guess I can be seen in the weekly every now and then.

keep up the good work dura. Smile

Thanks. Smile

aphelion, well you're right about less paint on my canvaspaper ... i try to reduce to waste such expensive paint. And especially while im just trying "mixing" the colors and learn how the medium feels, i try to keep things calm. If you know the picture will be great enough to sell, you can waste some paint, but if you still dont know if its necessary to use such mega-blobs out of the tubes ... you can also use some little blobs. Wink

@matthew
yes, still learning in the Zoo.
More than ever i feel how sketching from life and from mind is beginning to be the same on paper.
And well, im sure the Zoo-Sketches are an important point right to my very own style, because the most important thing still is the rhythm of the animal and no "others style" you like to draw animals in.

acrylics ... yes, someone before told me you can see my digital style aswell in my acrylic work. Its because i just have the same thoughts and try to use acrylics as soon as possible as my digital training told me. So i still think of an special color first ... and then try to mix it as it would be a horrible color-picker. ;D Also i use acrylic instead of oil, because the short try-time gives a more photoshop-like handling.

PS: Yeah, i will see to take part in the weeklies.

May the colors be with you

Hey DUracel a lot of nice things here. It's very nice to see that you are doing all types of things and mediums ! I think my fav. is the pirate looking out on the sea. Nice to see your'e doing acrylics too, I never relly done a lot in acrylics, I've always felt that if I'm gonna paint opaque I do oil and transparent I do watercolor. Nice thing with acrylic is that you can do both. But it also makes if difficult to make up your mind how to build up the picture. A couple of comments on the acrylics, I think it would be nice if you started with some underlaying ground color, basis, before you start paint. ALso, maybe try out to do some bigger strokes to begin with with "less" smaller color variation but more the basic colors you want to lay out, instead of painting all kinds of colors to begin with. Just a suggestion, would be nice to see.
ANyway, nice work !
