Alien; The Director's Cut
A Review
I recently aquired the new release of "Alien; The Director's Cut" on DVD. For anyone that's always enjoy this film, as well as works by director Ridley Scott, this two disc set is a must have. First of all seeing the movie again on crystal clear DVD was nothing short of stunning, and watching I found it hard to believe the film was made in 1979. That's right197925 years old, but it doesn't show it's age. The film is perfectly timeless and likely to stand beautifully for another 25 years. Scenes that were trimmed from the original have been put back in, and they add a bit flavor; however, they're not entirely necessary. As a viewer and utilizing the wonder of DVD options, you can see eitherboth cut and uncut versions are on the DVD.
Disc 2 is just flat out fking amazing. The entire production, from pre-conception to post, is covered. There are numorous interviews with Scott, O Bannon and others, and there's a whole slideshow section of original storyboards (by Scott) as well as concept art by the design team (yesespecially Giger); additionally there are interviews and talks with members of the design team. Other Disc 2 wonders are the casting shorts and talks with Scott on why certain people were chosen.
Gort's Rating (out of 5 stars): 5 STARS! A must have! _________________ - Tom Carter

I got me the Alien Quadrilogy for Christmas last year and its awesome. 9 Dvds, the movies + one extra dvd for each of them. It has so much extra material with awesome info on the movies as well as how the industry works. Great stuff. |
