Great piece Leo .. any good Digital artists .. have alwasy been really good traditional artists .. the computer is just another tool .. it is like a 3 dimentional brush .. you would be surprised how much more you can get out of a drawing . by touching it up ... as for this one ... I would keep the original for sure .. and just to play around you could try scanning it in .. and adding very suttle color highlights .. and such .. you know like adding color to the background sky .. like a warm sunset or one of the dragons shooting out fire .... few ... sorry about the long coment .. but I do this myself a lot .. all my art is original then touched up on the computer so .... have fun .. |

Holy crap! Now THAT'S art! I really like the detail of the village, and if my eyes don't deceive me, it's even in correct perspective! The dents and scratches are also worked out really well... I love your style, keep posting! |

Ooh yeah. looks great. Too bad it won't quite fit my screen in one piece...
I guess it's time for me to learn to draw.

Ok, 2 questions to everybody:
1) What is your screen resolution? (i'm working with 1024x768)
2) What is better to you - posting picture directly (like i've done there) or write an URL?
Thanks.

This is nice, I like the perspective you used. It makes me want to look at it looking up...
This is pencil right? Or did you use charcoal? You even drew the style of houses they built back in mid-evil days... At least, I think that's what they had... Maybe they built stone houses
Anyway, keep drawing
oh and I have 800x600 resolution. I haven't gotten a big monitor yet. I'm waiting to get a flat screen instead.

hey dude, great work. awesome shading and fabo perspective. i'm at 1024x768 and i like the pics displayed like how you did it. that'd be a good pic to try coloring mullins style. put it as the top layer and change it to 'multiply', then work under it. |

I am same as Dukez, but I work in a 5000x4000 image. When I do that.... everything gets really slow... but it's good for scaling down and printing... =P
Like I ever printed... heh heh

Thanks guys'n'girls for your time and concern. Next time i'll post a smaller samples (something to fit a 800x600 res), ok?
To Jess: yes, it's a pencil. Usually i'm working with a couple of B and HB pencils. As for houses, they have a wooden skeleton filled with stone... look at old European architecture.
To Jeezus: Can you explain a CM style a bit more, please?
PS: Y2K is running on the planet. My PC met it in a good shape. How about you ? Heh, anyway Happy New Year to you all!

well, instead of the clean cartoonish look that you'd get following dhabs tutorial, use the paintbrush to paint like you would in real life. zoom in and vary the size of the brush, but keep it sharp and concentrate on realistic texture and lighting, not so much on making everything blend smoothly. i'll do up a little example tomorrow, its really late sorry, hehe, i dont know how to explain it. but i know this method will work great with the already clean pencil work you've done. |
