In the past, I've painted in flat colors, then used blending tools to blend them together and smooth them. Now I'm experimenting with painting without blending. Here's a pic I'm messing around with:

I kind of like the rougher, paint-like look. What do you think?

damn you and your IE only .jpg files!
Looks pretty good though. Now you know how people get that natural media look.

IE only JPEG files? It seems to be coming up fine in Netscape 4.04 and Opera 3.60... I didn't even know there was such a thing as an IE only JPEG file.
imdaking -- the hair all over looks strange, because I haven't really worked on it yet. I probably won't develop this into a finished pic, it's just an experiment.
Thanks!

Holy shit, that's nice
I very much like that look dude, and I really think you should develop it into a finished pic - it's got soooo much potential (it's already great).

Really cool!
I think you should put up a page on your site with a tutorial on how you paint your images
That's just a hint

The glasses and hair are still just sketches. I may or may not finish it. Thanks for the encouragement, though.

Well, it's a bit hard to say anything at this stage, especially since I don't know how you work. I don't think there's much point in posting work at such an early stage... This looks like it's a rough layout that you haven't even started elaborating on yet. It's easier to give feedback on something, when you can get a good feeling of the direction the image is heading, so to speak.

Affected --
I wasn't really asking for a critique on the pic, I just wanted to know what people thought of the rougher look on the skin.
