ok so here it is my first post I have been a beneficiary of all your incredible work here for some time now but never took the time to post any work of my own. I am planning to get more of my work out there for you all to see and comment on so I can get some good crits.

This is my first work that is digital from the beggining, I have often scanned sketches and digitally painted them, but this is all photoshop. She looks like a perfect candidate for a vampire flick..... Dont you think??

Well comments are most welcome. I have a bit to do on this yet, mostly details in the clothing.

well it looks like you have a good sense for colors and shadows so you've been doing something very right!...as for anatomy...what reference was used? it seems like this wasnt very planned out..have like a sketch or anything...?
I think it's on a very good path you just need to find some reference for mostly that arm, neck, face and hands...

One more thing...there's like a different skin tone and lighting for the head, the naval, and the arms...i'd say try to somewhat keep it consistent

I think it looks great dude. doing stuff straight on the computer without a scan is pretty hard. i like it, all except for that one hand, the contrast is to harsh. if you smooth that hand out a bit it with look excellent.

Thanks for the comments. I can see what you mean about The inconsistency of the skin tones now that I look, it is probably due to the fact that this was somewhat of an expeiriment for me and I learned as I went. As for the anatomy I found it a bit a more challenging trying to sketch out the structure of the figure using a wacom tablet instead of the old pencil and paper, a little disorienting I suppose. I am used to comparing and measuring between my work and the reference but with using a digital approach it required new strategies I found the guides to be helpful. Perhapes you'll be able to better explain what you mean with the anatomy of the figure if I post the reference.

I can totally see what you mean with the contrast of the hand on the Left side of the pic especially the knuckles 'ddawghurl'.

When you mentioned the anatomy of the arms 'the_insider' I do see that the one on the left half of the pic is perhaps oddly bent at the portion from the elbow to the wrist, is this what you where seeing as well??

again thanks for the crits, it is very helpful. I will post my updates once I get a chance to work on it some more in the meantime here is the reference.

Hang ONNNN!
Am I missing something? If you have a picture of you're illo for reference, Try some other pose.I think you could move her about a bit , you know , look like that bloke on CSI (MMM)
I don't want to seem out of line but with your talent you should be shaking up the photo pics ,not copying them.

Well, the arms in your reference are smaller than in your picture, and the arm in the foreground is a little broken. It's curved when it should be straight. The thing I find hard about your picture at the moment is the harsh colour changes. Maybe smooth that out a little bit. It's a little distracting. I would say the old, use it in more places, to make it fit in more, but it's so harsh on the face, and so nicely done on the arms, and back to harsh on the hands, that I would just say just fix it up.

And there is no shame in using reference. Espescially when you're changing her outfit somewhat. Maybe do something dynamic with the top. And don't forget to think about the background before the picture is finished(unless it's a study).
