in chronological order, since 2 nights ago
For those who saw my previous post, or even replied: do you think I made progress? I feel like I am doing better, but if not I'll have to go back to the excercises you prescribed. Thanks for viewing, thanks in advance for any feedback!

ps: time is about 2 hours for the first two, and a little bit more on the last. Should I speed up and think less? Or will that happen automatically? |

the drawings themselves are quite nice, but concerning the values you really should press your pencil strongly on the paper and draw dark values where you see dark ares in your face (probably eyebrows, noseholes, pupils, gaps). and for some areas its not recommended to represent them with too hard lines, like the under-eyelids, because they produce too much value.
look at your face and brutally draw the shapes and values your eyes see! i am quite sure they don't see eyes with make up... ![Smile](images/smiles/icon_smile.gif) _________________ known as "ChrisNix" elsewhere. |

perhabs its just a bad scan - you could copy the pic into some multiply layers for a better looking.
I like the lineart ![Smile](images/smiles/icon_smile.gif) _________________ *

Thanks for the comments. The values are not represented accurately, since I used a digicam to 'scan' them. And you are right about the eyes. Something very serious I came accross recently is that drawing of photo's is bad. Above are drawn after photos. Below are drawn from life. In fact I am not too disappointed, also since they are fast (20 minutes each) Are the values better?
PS, something is seriously bothering me about the dual-me image, first one. I can't put my finger on it though, what's wrong with that one?
Thanks!

well the left guy in the dual image one has a couple problems. One, his ears aren't even even though his head is straight on, you can see on side of his glasses going up towards the ear while the other one is going down, also his eyes aren't even. Also, just the way his head is sitting on his neck seems a bit awkward, I'm thinking the head needs to come to the left a bit more in comparison with the neck. A good practice is to hold your drawing up to a mirror so you see it backward and problems such as these will become more apparent because you will see it in a new way. |
