Hi. I'm trying to make some images in hopes of getting some illustation work. This is suposed to be in the direction of a book cover, or something. Any suggestions?

Hey there Ogre,

this is really rather splendid. The palette, composition and tonality are spot on. The only thing I find jarring, is the detail level in the foreground and distant mountains.

For a book cover I'd expect something a bit more finished. The dragon is a virtuoso treat from head to tail, but the lack of detail in the aforementioned areas makes him seem detached from his surrounings.

It reminds me of the Terry Pratchett book cover art.

pudding, thanks for your thoughts. I think I'm just not very good at trees and grass and rocks etc.

btw, having nothing to do with this picture, what do you know about the university of Sussex? is it any good? my sister has been accepted there and trying to decide if she should attend there or not. thanks.

Very nice painting, looks great. I really like your style, also the colors are very well chosen imo.
