Scanned sketch with no reference, painted in PS. Towards the end I used some reference I shot myself. (There's a story that goes with it.) Check out the WIP thread if you want to see lots of intermediary steps. Higher res version here: http://www.optidigit.com/stevens/jealousyhi.jpg

Amazing. Very Happy

Something about the little bedside table seems a bit too "perfect". I know that's an odd thing to say but I can't put my finger on it any more.

Otherwise, lovely! Smile

it just has a bunch of intricate and high contrast detail on it.. and it draws the eye's attention from the rather soft shaded skin...

its not that bad imo.. the sharp lighting on the chix creates some nice contrast that helps it compete

Long time no see. Very sleek stuff Steven. I'm mighty impressed. The only things that could be said about this image isn't about technique but more of like, "Why is she killing her? Why would the fairy's hair look like she didn't comb or wash it for a few days? Why would a fairy kill?"

But that's your business and none of ours Wink

And about Lumental, well it went to the point of 0 posts/month and we wrote a closing message, but a few months ago lumental.com got haxored and our little ennemy deleted every file on the server (not aimed at deleting lumental, but it was just part of it)

Didn't have a backup, it's gone ;-\

incredible! very nice indeed! Love that stabber's torso ..
but the receding wing looks flat like piece of paper.

Trully amazing! Many places where the lighting is just incredible!
I don't fully understand the location of the sources.. the effect of light on the girls vs on the curtain confuses me somewhat - mainly becuase of the shadow cast by the girl in opposition to the other directions the white light seems to come from - but it matters only from a technical point of view. the light on the calf of the stabber is suspect.
re: the table, I think it's brighter than your might expect. I think it's having trouble bridging the difference in light/rendering of the curtain and the girls.

Take it as praise that all I have to say negative. I'm coming from a 'perfect unless found imperfect' angle. Wow.

Thanks guys, you lift my spirits, and help me do better. Smile Sorry to hear about the Lumental files, I was proud to be a moderator of that place, I thought it was a cool initiative. Now all we have are the memories...

The background story isn't just my business, I'll be happy to tell you about it. Smile The killer fairy is the same as in my other recent fairy-pic, 'One Last Time' (front page of my site). She fell or was lured into the dragons lair, and made a deal with him to save her life. She crawled out, that's why she's naked and dirty etc.
The deal was to kill her older sister the Queen of Faery (seen in another of my images riding a swing), who has just married the Goblin Prince, then frame the Prince for it and war would result - just what the Dragon wants. The younger sister wasn't too hard to persuade either... she's always hated and envied her sister.

oi joi
steven, i like this very much.
what i dont understand though, is why she holds her head up like that, it seems like a gentle gesture in the wrong place.
but anyway, it's great.

Thanks! Well I was kind of trying to make the character of the killer a bit more complex, as if part of her realizes this is wrong, and that she'll regret it, that she actually does love her sister. Or maybe it's a sign of sadistic cruelty, not sure. You know, like: "Come on now, wake up, sweet sister, I have a surprise for you..." Anyway. It gives them a more intimate moment, stronger eyecontact, closer faces etc. Someone suggested she should grab her hair, but that could lead to the victim making noise, or waking up too much, squirming or struggling or something.

oh my word.............. that's beautiful.

also, 'fairy murder' would be a great name for a band, if it didn't have homophobic overtones Razz
