Hello,
I posted this over at Cgtalk but got no response, I thought I would try here. One of my first paintings in Painter 8.

It really causes my eyes to struggle. My brain sort of takes it as a mistake of some kind and tries to correct my vision causing significant eye strain. When I close one eye it is easier for me to look at the image as it is. I think that what is adding to the effect that I am describing is the softer detail on the upper set of eyes, they lack the color and definition of the lower ones. It all depends on what you are shooting for. Right now it is reading largely as a mistake or a problem but if that is your aim or you enjoy giving people that sort of visual problem to work out for themselves then this is working. If you are more interested in pushing a realistic oddity then you have some work to do. It is definitely an interesting image though _________________ Obviously,

Hi wienerbot,
Sorry about the delayed response. I set my preference so that I would be email if there were response and I didnt get one. I like your crit. I feel the same way with the pic. I am not happy with the head at all. I did sort of want a twin reading on the eyes, it was sort of an attempt to express two feelings (two sets of eyes for each feeling) in a twisted pacasso way. I know that it wasnt reading right so I appreciate your response.
Thank again. |

I think it looks more as if the head is transparent ...
not as if there's ambient light ... or radiosity or whatever that is called.
Guess that's one reason why you can switch between two faces ...
rather than seeing one face with 4 eyes.
Does that make sense? _________________ http://www.conceptworld.org |

Thanks AndyT, I can see what you mean. The lighting on the side of the head is also not consistent with the rest of the body. I think I should just move on to a new one. |

Whoa, that is making my head spin. I know you weren't trying to make it so trippy but it's a cool effect. Like weinerbot said, it makes my eyes struggle to understand what I'm seeing. Damn cool effect. |
