I did this one yesterday. Based on a loose sketch i did
The two guys were drawn separate when i drew them more accurate
and the background were composited in later. I decided to go for a
pretty Simple look. with one layer for a gradient, 1 with colors and another
with shadows. Took about 2 hours all in all. I'm pretty happy with the
expressions in their faces.
What do you think?

Brings me back to NYC (drawn in NYC?). I like the lose pen work. The bright red Art Plant sign is kinda annoying, actually it might be that the words are bright white, should it be an off-white?
There is a florescent light above them? If that's the case, I think it would be really bright on top, near their heads, more shadows under the chair/their bodies and much more contrast. Then again, you said you didn't spend but 2 hours on this, which is amazing to me. Nice work.

Thanks, Cloxboy!
Nope, not drawn in the NYC although i was inspired by the New York subway station in Jacobs ladder.
Yep, the sign is pretty annoying. I will fix that soon. I think i will draw it in instead so it dont interfare with the style and technique. The leg is too long so i will shorten it as well.
Thanks:)

Great! love it, their faces are cool. Like it.
Re the long leg (which I didn't notice and still don't have ay problems with), you just could change the angle of the shoe to more end on thereby pulling the heel up making the leg shorter but keeping the shoe in the same place.. i dunno.

Hey Mikael -
...yeah, the color scheme really works, feels like I sued to feel waiting for the Central Line in London, always some gobshite drooling on my coat. The only cirt I have (and it's minor one) is the pudgy fellow's foot, would it be tilted up like that? Best - mh _________________ http://www.matthaley.com

Max Kulich:
Thanks, max!
Citizen cow: Old stuff there. It's 1 year ago i updated:/
Tomasis: You mean what i'm working on right now?
Well i did 2 Shadowfist cards lately, very rough, but the cards are so small
nobody will notice. I'm also finished 13 new Starwars illustrations for The ultimate adventure book and some 3d modeling for our new game.
There are also an active storyboard thread at conceptart.org which i'm participating in. The thunderdome contest is also still going:)
brain: Thanks:)
Captain.Fred: Yeah, well i still not sure what to do with it. I'm waiting a while in order to distance myself to it and then look at it with new eyes.
yelahttam: I'm glad you think the coloring works:) Yeah, will check out the foot later!

Really cool. I love the style. I would absolutely love to see this as part of an animated short or something... using the same look. The colors are perfect. Just out of curiosity... the title on the book the annoyed guy is holding... is it part of an actual title for a real book? or did you just randomly put in any old letters? _________________ "Life is like a box of ACTIVE GRENADES!" |

Fantastic! The only critique I have at the moment (aside from the sign) is the crack in the wall behind the guy's ear. On first glance I thought it was a large elf ear. I know it sounds like a dumb thing to think, but that is how it jumped out at me.
I love both of their expressions. _________________ My Art.
