It's great. Maybe you should make a more detailed version in the future.
There is one thing that bothers me though but I'm not sure about it. It's the clouds, I think they should be more, white.
Still though it's great as an image and an idea. |

I agree with Spiral. This is a great piece. But the clouds are to "mash potato" looking. I love the building and the mountains. They appear to be in a watercolor style. Then the sky has this oil or pastel look. I personally like you're watercolor style. Hard lines and very little blending. Like I know what I'm talking about.

It's neat. I like the warm sun light hitting those clouds, great colours.
The image is very low contrasty and could need more separation in terms of values and depth.
I'd say, separate the depth planes into 2 planes. Foreground and background. Mountains are less interesting, so keep values closer here. Brights look alright, but darks go very dark.
The foreground could need some more contrast and detail. This is where your focus is, and it's loosely rendered. A bit more detail wouldn't hurt. You probably should darken it. You'll automatically make the buildings look more interesting if they were hidden in shadow with warm light hitting the top of the sphere.
You could work on the roundness as well, it's difficult to read now. To make the sunlight look less like a spotlight, work with bigger (soft) brushes and don't try to render details. Work the "roundness" in first, add detail afterwards.
good job. _________________ http://www.somniostudios.com |

More replies, excellent. Thank you Scott & Henrik.
Henrik, I have been a fan of your work for 2 years strong now. I really appreciate your comments and insight into making this a stronger work. Having been an oil painter for 12 years, its a little hard not to make "Mash Potato" clouds
I do hope to post more soon, as my entire folio is in dire need of a resurrection. _________________ Lichen Rice is worse than Licorice |
