In an effort to get used to using more photo reference, I stripped down to my unmentionables, got out the gun and practice sword, and took some pictures of myself. So, basically, this is me except in better shape. The next step is the bg, but it'll probably be a few days before I can get back to this one.

well...
the shading is great (i love the colors) and the anatomy seems to be correct...
but the pose is kinda odd.
What is he looking at?
You could try to turn the head and paint the profile (eyes looking directly left from the viewers p.o.v.)
Or raising his head a bit and let him look into the virtual camera ;P

you might also want to make the left (from the viewers p.o.v.) foot a bit bigger due to the perspective...

I agree with telcontar, everything is cool except the pose. He kinda looks like a mannequin...for the NRA maybe? heh. Anyway, just work on your poses, you got everything else working well...oh yeah, a background is always helpful too.
