It hink you may need to work on this one in terms of both perspective, and research (that seems to be my pet word lately).
Research wise I would find pictures of modesl in similar positions, not necessarily form the same angle, just to get a sense of how a real person would be pearched over a building. The other thing to research is wings. Wings are like arms, but in 3 pieces. The parts are the same as in a human, but the fingers are fused together, and are the same length as the other 2 parts. The feathers come in layers after that, and the feathers on the end are the ones that are really used for flight (That's why if you look at birds in captivity that they don't want to fly of, often their tip of the wing feathers are cut). These feathes are like fingers in a hand. And obviously, the bulk of the feathers int eh wing are off of the "finger" bones.
Now, for the perspective bit. To simplify things it looks like you went with a straight head on shot, making the builidngs in the back 2 point perspective. It's all and good, but the church is head on to us, and form the position your figure is in I was looking for more of a one point perspective on the building as it is coming up. It could be me, but I think the more dynamic and interesting shot for this picture would be if you were getting him roughly in his line of sight, but not directly in it. The perspective would be wonky, maybe lending itself to 3 point perspactive more then, but would give you a better composed picture.
On the anatomy side, if you cut his arms in half, they're in proportion to the head. The legs are too small to support the body. They need to be bigger, and a better way for him to be standing may be good(try the pose yourself before drawing it). The torso can be fixed thinking about 1 point perspective. It should be going back into the picture, instead it looks like it's still going down as if he were standing straight up. And the pelvis looks like it's too small.
If you can put that much effort in getting the persective right in the buildings behind him, I'm sure that it would be no problem at all to do all that I have suggeted, aside from the different composition thing. I like how it's going, so keep it up and keep updating it. |
