I was involved in one scifi project that is no more. The director/writer left, and since we didn't have a producer yet, it propably won't continue anymore. Anyway, I did these two matte paintings for it, but didn't finish them. I think I'll dig them up later and finish them just for the kicks. Btw. I'm not a "real" matte painter (as you can see), this project was a tryout for making a demo that we can show to a producer and see if he/she likes it..

The first was ment to be a still picture, about 4 seconds.
The second image was ment to be a 180 camera pan, with 3d shit on top, and in below that, was not ment for this demo. I just wanted to make it winter. I dig it.

Your comment is welcome.

telcontar: Thanks, that's my favourite too Smile

Max Kulich: Thank you, I'm really honoured. Every body says the same about the sky. More is coming, perhaps in speedpaint thread.

Alucard: Thanks, there's ment to come more buildings, so the "sky" don't show.

This shot is captured from Finland, Helsinki, Aleksanterinkatu. I just painted over the orginal video. Camera is not panning or tilting.
There's no eyecandy, I know. I tried to add more bight color in the horizon, but it looked like the sky was shining from there, and that's not what I want.
So what to do. If I leave it like that, I know it'll follow me in dreams Laughing
This isn't going to end in any real movie or anything, I'm just trying to learn things.
Any help would be hot. Thanks.

Petri.J, I am still impressed by the stuff you posted here.
I think it's really cool how you try to learn these things about mattepainting.

The shot looks very interesting. I can imagine a full anim. sequence.
I really can't give you any critique 'cause I am neighter a mattepaintinr nor good at digital painting.
Only the bright windows look...well, I am not sure
Sometimes even reality looks fake.
One thing: The whole picis too blurry, quess that's because of the video quality...

Keep it up

Max Kulich: Yes, it's the orginal video, that's blurry, and that makes things alot harder, I can't paint anything sharp, because of that, or it looks that it doesn't belong there.
Bright windows upright? Should I turn down the brightness?
I'm going to add some 3d cars and stuff there to attract the attession off the background Smile
