I'm pretty sure that Painter 7 was the first version that worked with OS X. And let me tell youit was a resource hog. I first used it on a iMac 500 MHz with 768 megs of RAM and the app took forever to open. But once it was open, it was okay. A little sluggish, but okay.
I got my first version of Painter, version 5.5, on eBay. I then used it to upgrade to version 7. _________________ Madness takes its toll - please have exact change. |

so that's it? has anyone else tried to put painter 6 on osx or 5.5 ...i don't know about the rest of you but ,,, i really dislike painter 7 and even more so painter 8....maybe i don't realise something that maybe you seasoned pros realized...what makes 8 so great besides the brushes...what about the interface and the change in hot keys...i would still like to know where i can find a copy of 5.5 i'll pay a reasonable price for it. thanks. |

quattro: look on eBay. That's what I did. Sooner or later something should show up. I also remember seeing a OEM version (both Mac and PC on one CD) version of Painter 5 flooding eBay probably about 2 years ago. I am sure you can still find copies of that floating around, probably pretty cheap too.
You'll have to use "Classic" mode with anything older than version 7, of course. But it should work. _________________ Madness takes its toll - please have exact change. |
