Hey all, I am experiencing a little problem with my wacom art tablet. I have an Intuos 6x8, and while using the tablet with Photoshop, it will sporadically ignore the amount of pressure I apply to the tablet. I can be making light lines, then all of a sudden, a really thick one will go down, that is uniform thickness no matter how light of pressure I apply thoughout the stroke. This happens probably 1 in 10 strokes. I have the latest drivers. I haven't replaced the nub yet on my pen, but it looks fine. Plus, I don't know how to replace it. I have played with the sensitivity options both on the tablet and the software that comes with the tablet. I tried sending wacom an email a few days ago, but haven't gotten any response. Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

for what it's worth, I have the same problem (using a ps2/serial graphire on winXP)...
I've learned to live with it, though a solution would of course be very welcome Smile
I'll be keeping a close eye on this thread.

cheers

I have had this happen as well, although not in Photoshop. Usually it happens to me in painter,... I'll be painting along and all of a sudden everything is at max pressure. I have had this happen with both of my tablets (an Intuos 2 6x8 and an older UD 608) so I always figured it was a Painter issue. Anyways,... I can usually fix it by flipping my pen over to the eraser, and then back to the tip and it seems to reset it.

Hope that helps.

thanks for the advice, but it usually only happens for one stroke. Then the stroke right after that is fine. I guess in a way I'm glad to know I'm not the only one who is having this problem. Sorry that you guys are having it too though! (You'd think by paying ~$200 for a piece of plastic with a cord attached to it, it'd work right, damn wacom Wink )

it has to be a memory issue, using my sherlock holmes powers, i had the same prob, it was 4 strokes, then a full opacity, then 4 strokes, it's happened to me quite a lot, so often, that i didn't realise that it had stopped doing it until recently, i used to reboot and it'd fix it temporarily, but i just cleared 6 gig from my drive, and defragged, ran spy/virus checkers and it hasn't happened since, been about a month or so too, so it's odds on that it was a memory/space prob for me (although the possibility is there that it was viral but i doubt it)

With your advice I've figured out how to keep it from happening to a degree. I just have to make sure I do a fresh reboot everytime I wish to do something with my art tablet and also keep background progs to the minimum. Although this can be a prob cause I like to multitask like ka-razy. Anyway, thanks for everyone's comments!

(On a side note, I finally got a reply from wacom, some guy told me to replace the nub with a fresh one, which didn't help. He then told me to call their non-toll free line Evil or Very Mad to get more assistance, which I didn't do.)

Losing pen pressure sensitivity seems to happen when another program conflicts with PS. It seems not to be related to the Wacom itself. Usually, when this happens with me, I just ALT + TAB twice to somehow "reaffirm" to PS that it's the program in charge.

Clearing up any background-running tasks seems the way to go for a permanent fix, though.

I have the same problem. I found that it's a memory issue. If your running winXP you can CTL+ALT+DEL and right click on the Photoshop process and set the priority status. I run winamp in the background but i've found that lowering the priority for winamp helps alot! Try closing programs that are un-needed.

I used to have it when I was using my 825mhz p3 with 256mb of ram. Drove me fucking crazy. I nearly went insane. Then I got my current comp ([email protected] with 1gig of ram) and I hadn't even thought of it until I saw this. You can try to fix it with software tweaks, and you might be able to, but you might just have to upgrade or continue living in hell.

You can also go to the Wacom control panel and revert your setting for pressure. On the few occasions this has happened to me it was the only way to recover.
