I know there's not a rule for it and that you can draw with allmost every computer configuration. But I want to upgrade my computer for better graphics and faster use of grapic applications (PS a.o.). Since i don't have a lot to spend, i can't just throw in a lot of fancy expensive stuff.
I've got a P3 800, 128 ram, 32 mb videocard.
Any tips / what's your config ? |

Can you say what you want to do?
You want to be able to print them later?
... or do you just want to make banners for websites?
... impress people at Deviantart?
... or you want to work as a concept artist for a mod (or a big company)?
It makes a difference ... ![Wink](images/smiles/icon_wink.gif) _________________ http://www.conceptworld.org |

well, impressing people at deviantart or this forum is my main target
*hope someone can see the sarcasm
but i also want to be able to draw with high resolution so that i can do with it whatever I want (for example printing).

high-res = memory (RAM)
Not sure your goal is a good one, but hey, that's alright. It's a start. =)
Otherwise, your computer is good enough to do stuff on. |

Yea it's good, otherwise throw in a stick of 256MB ram in there (old type of ram is cheap nowdays).
Sometimes if you look at some super-duper 3d scene that looks amazing and realistic, and read that it was made on a P133 computer with 32mb ram.. it's not the tool, it's the skill YO! |

What they said!
And I think it also depends on how clean you can keep your computer.
I tried working with higher resolutions than usual (4500x3000) and it doesn't work on my 1,4 GH AMD.
I have 256 MB Ram (actually 384 but 256 are recognized)
I am pretty sure it will work as soon as I format my harddisk again. _________________ http://www.conceptworld.org |
