Hello. I've worked a little more on a picture I displayed here a while ago. I've made it crisper and the skin colour is now realistic as opposed to vomit green. The face now has an iris also. Please tell me what you think; am I getting better?

Looks great Cecil, I like the background...
But the eye seems to be a little wierd, can't quite hit the the nail on the head but it seems strange... |

Is it the forehead? There is a bit of hair hanging down the other side that is white. I forgot to colour it black so maybe that is what makes the head seem abnormal? |

the forehead seems fine.. just get rid of that middle hair line thingy.. it looks like.. and the eyes are a bit pushed back.. bring em a lil closer to the bridge of the nose.. (eybrow) too.. but it looks good
about the only thing thats i noticed first was the ear.. its wayy back there.. hehe she must have a looong face ![](http://www.sijun.com/dhabih/ubb/smile.gif) |

The iris is too circular... if it was that shape, the iris should be placed looking a lot more towards us. Try making it more oval. I think the white of the eye being so misshaped past the iris is also odd.

The eye is a transparent sphere, and the iris is a dish that is set into it.(1) When seen from the side, it forms an ellipse.(2) If she was looking this way, the drawing is kinda correct, but the iris would be mostly obscured by the smaller opening of the lids towards the side of the eye.
To be really subtle, the far eye would be a slightly more closed ellipse, depending on the lens, but in a straight profile, ya don't see it of course. Another real trick is the front of the eyeball is raised, so it is not a true sphere. it does affect highlights a little.
In 3, see the lids covering the eyeball, don't forget to show the thickness of the lids! They ride on top of the eyeball.
I know it's tough thinking "I gotta know all this stuff?!?" but just pick it up here and there and think about things on your own, and the most important thing, never forget.
AS far as the rest of the picture, the figure is overexposed, lit areas going straight white, while the background is slightlty underexposed. Darken the BG or paint some halftones in the skin.
Could be a nice pict, keep going. |

Whoa spooge demon, thats some tutorial you slapped there, it can be useful not only for cecil
Anyway, cecil, great pic, but the background doesnt really blend with the face, the lines of the forehead and the nose are just to 'hard' . But the chin and lips are nice. The ear is WAY back there, unless she's a dog or something she would have ears there. Bring the ear closer to the face. To keep good perspective of the ear, make the top aligned with the top of the nose (the eye line) and the bottom with the bottom of the nose. Adn the hair could use a little of detail, some reflection here and there and get rid of that hair in the forehead, its weird.
The eye is too defined with 'hard' lines compared to the blured lines of the face, so it stands out.. and bring it closer to the nose and maaybe, just maybe, try making it bigger, just to experiment.
BTW, is she supposed to be an indian or something? If she is, I would use a darker tone of the skin, look at some photos of indian people, they have 'indigo' skin.
Love that 'canoe' thingie in the background. Nice background btw
Anyway, it has great potential and while its underdeveloped, it already looks great.

The ear is in perfect position, but I agree that the lines do look a little too "harsh" for the blurry background.
I like your choice of colours, too. Take Spooge Damon's advice and fix the eye!*$#*$
