What's the best way to create metallic armor? Do you take an already existing metal texture and draw highlights over it? I cant seem to do that properly, im trying to do bevel type shapes on it too. |

Try painting the armor first, without any textures, and then start overlaying the texture on top of it, on new layers set to, say, overlay. :P

The most important part of doing metal is to get the reflections and shading right. Metal reflects light differently than a matte surface -- study whatever metal you happen to have around. Look at your bumper and hubcaps, etc.
Check out the robot in http://funhousedigital.com/fb-tlrs.jpg to see how I handled it. It's not perfect, but it may give you a general idea.
